Hello everyone! This post today has to deal with Aprilynne Pike's lastest book, Illusions. Chapter 1 deals with the returning characters Laurel, David, and Tamani. We take into view Laurel and David's first day of their senior year in high school. The couple run into Chelsea and Ryan, close friends from the previous books, and begin to discuss their wishes and goals for their final year of high school. With a quick glance to her left, Laurel catches the eye of a familiar stranger. The stranger's eyes are a dull green and she knows without a doubt a doubt who the eyes belong to. Tamani, a faerie, Laurel's protector, was standing in the middle of her high school.
Laurel feels confused and in fear. The last time she had seen Tam was when she was forced to say goodbye. She never thought she would see him again. As the book progresses she finds that she shares two classes with Tamani. Their first greeting, since last summer, feels the same as when she last say him. Tam fills in Laurel that the reason why he is now enrolled in her high school is for her protection. He needs to be closer to her in order to make sure she is fully protected. The end of the first chapter leaves you hanging or more details on why Tamani has showed up. What is the real reason for his bold appearance?
My personal reaction to this reading is I feel on edge. I want to know why the full reason for why Tam is here.
The suspense is building up and to begin the first Chapter with this huge climax is over powering. If I were to take notes regarding this reading I would use an Outline form. This is because it would help with being neat. There is so much information packed into this reading that and Outline would be needed. This also allows you to have a clear, visual view of your work.
